Bad breath or halitosis is commonly referred to the disgusting, unpleasant odor in breathe. Thus, bad mouth breath is the bad breath out of the mouth. Halitosis affects our lives in a lot of ways especially those who are to attend important business meetings and have to communicate but cannot do so since they are 'afraid' of halitosis. Bad breath goes by a lot of names such as halitosis, breath odor or morning breath. The reason behind why one gets a bad mouth breath is the anaerobic bacteria in our mouth. The food that we intake, some particles are left stuck between our teeth which provides for the bacteria to grow. The bacteria then results in giving bad odor.

Your tongue has a white yellow coating
You have a dry mouth which is due to less production of saliva in our mouth.
You have metallic, bitter or sour taste in your mouth

Out of these, the most commonly seen symptom of halitosis is when the tongue has yellow white coating on it. Removing this coating is not a solution to the problem of halitosis so avoid doing so and adopt the right method.

One must be wondering how bad breath is caused. There are many causes of halitosis. The main cause is the bacteria that reside in our mouth. Another reason is related to our diet routine. Diet affects our health to a large extent. If your diet includes intake of garlic, cabbage or onion, then halitosis is more likely to be due to unhealthy diet. This is because, for instance, garlic as well as onion has pungent oil which results in halitosis. Another major cause of bad breath, other than diet is, smoking. Other reasons are drugs, lungs infection, alcohol, gum diseases and throat infections.

To avoid having a halitosis as well as get rid of it, one should go for a regular dentist visits; preferably at least twice a year. Also, people facing the halitosis problem should adopt diet patterns which are healthy. Remember, mints or mouth wash doesn't treat bad mouth breath effectively or permanently but is a temporary solution. If you temporary want to get rid of halitosis then use strong mint or fresh parsley. You should add fresh fruits and vegetables to your daily diet, which is not only a healthy diet but also helps in getting rid of bad breath. Carrot is said to be very effective in getting rid of this problem.
